Rastell is a beautiful 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding by Rohdiamant, a premier German stallion. His dam is by First Class, another foundation sire Oldenburg. In appearance and presence, Rastell reminds you of his father and his grandfather, Rubenstein.
Rastell was Region 9 Champion at First and Second Level and has qualified for the 2009 Region 3 Championships this October at Third Level all with AA on board. He also earned his Third Level USDF Performance Award this year (10 qualifying rides above 60). He would be a superb confidence builder for an Adult Amateur or Junior.
Rastell loves trail rides and likes to canter and work on half steps and extended gaits in the field. He is calm but goes -- nothing bothers him, but he is quick off the seat and leg.
The ideal family horse, he has packed dozens of children on pony rides -- sometimes after just putting in a qualifying score at a horse show! His owner earned her Bronze on him last year.
Regardless of your skill level, he will give you confidence and help you develop your seat and free your hands. He goes round in a heartbeat, supples nicely through shoulder-in, renvers, and haunches-in, and will half pass as steeply as you ask him to. His gaits remain relaxed and regular throughout.
This horse has never been a pasture ornament, and has not been quickly repackaged by a professional for resale. He has been loved and carefully developed since he was a foal. Rastell has had the same owner for seven years. His gaits are show ring competitive, but not so big that you will lose your balance. He is easy, kind and honest. Nothing bothers him, and he will adjust his balance and do his best to help a rider who is learning the basics and beyond.
Rastell has been in professional training since he was five, and is presently working with a USET Long List trainer in Wellington, FL.
He is for sale because his owner is 5'11" and he has always been somewhat small for her (16.1). She has bought another horse (17.1!) and can't afford two!
Serious inquiries only, and please tell me about you first. This horse is a fantastic opportunity so his price is firm.
